Job Description

Cisco is seeking to hire a Software Engineer who will work with its Data Center Networking team to develop next-generation Ethernet Switching solutions. The position requires engineers to create platform-independent system software which will support Nexus switches as they deliver high-performance infrastructure for AI and cloud and enterprise environments. The engineers will work with various teams throughout all stages of software development from the creation of new products to their final delivery while they work to improve networking systems used in current data center operations.

Main Duties:

  • Design and develop system software for next-generation Ethernet switching products.
  • Build platform-independent networking solutions for Cisco Nexus switches and cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with hardware, testing, and marketing teams for product development and delivery.
  • Enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability in data center networking environments.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to innovate across networking and AI-driven infrastructure systems.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced system programming skills which they have developed through their work with C programming language to build high-performance networking systems. 
  • Demonstrates Python programming skills together with practical experience using AI LLM tools. 
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of Linux operating systems together with essential knowledge of fundamental system components. 
  •  Bachelor degree or a Master degree in Computer Science Electronics or Electrical Engineering. 
  • Eight years of experience working in system software development or networking development positions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of networking concepts which include switching and routing and protocols. 
  • Acquired basic knowledge about data structures and algorithms which he uses to design systems that function efficiently. 
  • Experience in three areas of complex system software development which include debugging and troubleshooting and performance optimization. 
  • Cloud infrastructure systems work together with data center networking system designs. 
  • Demonstrates skills to work together with team members who come from different departments and work in various locations around the world.
