Job Description

Amazon is looking to hire a Principal Software Development Engineer who will work with its Alexa AI Domains team to create and implement new AI-based user experiences. The position requires the development of extensive AI systems which support multiple modalities and multiple languages through the integration of advanced machine learning and generative AI capabilities. The engineer will establish system design standards while enhancing system efficiency through his work on dependable AI systems which operate on a global scale to serve millions of users and advance AI platform development.

Main Duties:

• Design and architect large-scale AI systems enabling multimodal, multilingual customer interaction experiences globally.
• Lead development of distributed AI infrastructure ensuring scalability, reliability, and high-performance system operations.
• Drive innovation in Generative AI architectures for improved accuracy, latency, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align AI solutions with business and customer requirements.
• Mentor engineering teams and establish best practices for AI system design and deployment.

Essential Qualifications:

• Ten years of expertise in both software development and major system architectural design work. 
• Advanced understanding of object-oriented design principles together with essential data structures and algorithm-based problem-solving methods. 
• Established expertise in three domains which include distributed systems and machine learning infrastructure together with scalable AI platform development. 
• Demonstrates the capacity to guide technical development during complex engineering projects that have major effects on the organization. 
• Experience creating AI systems of production quality which operate in real time to meet the needs of customers from different countries and various backgrounds.

Preferred Skills:

• Designing large distributed systems through service-oriented architecture and multi-tier system design. 
• Deep expertise in generative AI models together with advanced machine learning implementation methods. 
• Demonstrates worldwide capabilities to enhance AI systems through latency reduction and cost-effective performance expansion and system capacity development. 
• Multimodal artificial intelligence systems that process speech text images and video content.
• Demonstrates exceptional leadership ability to guide teams while establishing technical collaboration between multiple departments.
