Job Description
Adobe is looking to hire a Principal Scientist who will work in Applied Research at its Applied Science and Machine Learning (ASML) department. The role involves developing multimodal foundation models that support Adobe Firefly through its image, video and audio intelligence systems. The position requires researchers to conduct extensive data-based studies while developing new models and implementing generative AI systems throughout Adobe’s entire creative platform.
Qualification: PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related quantitative field

Main Duties
- Applied research work to develop multimodal foundation models which process text and image, video and audio content.
- Develops research experiments which test cross-modal data to improve model performance.
- Guide research teams in multimodal representation learning and generative AI systems.
- Partner with infrastructure teams to scale distributed training across large GPU clusters.
- Translate research breakthroughs into production-ready models for Adobe Firefly and Creative Cloud tools.
- Collaborate globally with engineering, data, and trust teams to ensure safe, high-quality AI systems.
Essential Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in Applied Machine Learning and AI Research.
- Demonstrates expertise in developing multimodal foundation models from their initial stages of development.
- Possesses expertise in Diffusion Transformers (DiT) and CLIP-style models and multimodal LLM architectural designs.
- Comprehensive knowledge about processes used to manage multimodal data and methods for achieving dataset equilibrium through data collection and data processing.
- Possesses practical knowledge of distributed training systems which include PyTorch and Megatron-LM and DeepSpeed and FSDP.
- Create organized experiments which have measurable results to study scientific research problems that have not been clearly defined.

- Experience in improving GPU training systems which operate at large-scale.
- Possesses expertise in loss debugging and gradient stability and training performance optimization.
- Deep knowledge about how generative AI systems function for creative work.

- Together with research teams and engineering teams and product teams from different parts of the world.
