Job Description

Salesforce seeks to hire a Senior Manager of Performance Engineering to manage performance testing and scalability assessment and cost reduction initiatives for its AI Platform which includes Agentforce and AI Cloud. The job requires system performance improvement through LLM-based systems which need to achieve low latency and high system reliability and affordable operational costs.

Main Duties:

  • Lead and mentor performance engineering and SRE teams for AI platform success.
  • Define performance strategy ensuring scalability, reliability, and low latency across systems.
  • Drive benchmarking and optimization of LLM workflows and agentic AI architectures.
  • Develop automation frameworks for performance testing integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align performance with business and cost goals.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Ten years of experience working in software and performance engineering positions across various systems.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of distributed systems together with cloud platforms which include AWS GCP and Azure.
  • Practical skills in performance testing together with benchmarking and system optimization techniques.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Python and Java programming languages through strong basic skills. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with AI systems and LLM systems and GPU workloads and ML infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge about JMeter, k6, Locust and observability platforms as performance measurement tools.
  • LLM systems use latency and throughput and token-based performance metrics to measure their performance.
  • Docker and Kubernetes and microservices-based deployment architectures.
  • Experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices and capacity planning methods.
