Job Description

Apple is hiring a data platform engineer to build and operate large-scale distributed data systems for Apple Ads. The role involves developing scalable back-end systems, handling data ingestion and processing, driving technical projects, debugging complicated systems, engaging with various stakeholders, and mentoring junior engineers. Required qualifications include extensive knowledge of data engineering, programming, and distributed computing.

Qualification: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science or an equivalent field

Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable distributed data systems for Apple Ads services.
  • Ingestion, transformation, and data governance services leveraging technologies like Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and Apache Flink.
  • Drive technology projects from conception to implementation in the development life cycle.
  • Provide solutions to technical issues for distributed systems, stabilize, scale, and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define the technical vision and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • 3 to 7 years’ experience in the design, development and management of distributed systems.
  • Knowledge about Java/Scala is required along with experience in software development engineering.
  • Experience in any of the following technologies is preferred: Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, Hive, Kubernetes, or Yarn.
  • Should have good experience in creating scalable and robust APIs and distributed systems.
  • A bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science or an equivalent field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or its equivalent, and a master’s degree would be preferable.
  • Have experience in creating Pub/Sub systems that facilitate reliable messaging between distributed applications and technology systems.
  • Have experience in designing and managing distributed systems in enterprise technology platforms and applications.
  • Have knowledge of machine learning, analytics, and business intelligence technologies, which is viewed as very advantageous.
  • Work on open-source projects along with developing quality software products and services.
