Salesforce is seeking an experienced Software Engineering LMTS/SMTS, Big Data Infrastructure professional to join its Software Engineering team in India. This role focuses on designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems that power real-time and batch data processing. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in big data technologies, cloud-native systems, and infrastructure automation, while playing a key role in mentoring engineers and owning mission-critical services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Creating data processing and analytics services that can be scaled up, by means of Spark, Trino, Airflow, and Kafka, the use of which will be to the total extent possible even when the entire data volume of the company is used.
  • To architect and run reliable distributed systems located in different geographical areas (data centers).
  • Solve technical difficulties that are not easy and, at the same time, make the system better in terms of performance and availability.
  • Service lifecycle from start to end is what you will be responsible for, meaning that he/she will take care of live-site reliability and technical debt as well.
  • Candidate will be part of the on-call rosters that are there to support the critical services by making them available at all times.
  • To train the new hire engineers and to establish and share the team’s best practices will be your goal.

Essential Qualifications

  • 8+ years in the area of distributed systems, big data, or related fields.
  • Expert-level practical skills in Spark, Hadoop, Trino, Airflow, and Kafka.
  • Mastering the cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Full set of skills regarding the use of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Knowledge in the use of Terraform or Ansible as infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • In addition to being skilled in Python, Java, Scala or other similar languages, you must be a very good programmer.
  • Advanced comprehension of distributed computing, fault tolerance, and performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates should have worked with large compute clusters spread over different geographical areas and managed them.
  • Experienced with Helm, Kubernetes operators, and advanced CI/CD pipelines and have thereby gained exposure.
  • Able to mentor well and have had experience owning production-quality services in the past.
