Amazon is hiring a Data Engineer II to join ShipTech Analytics (STA), the data and analytics backbone of its global transportation network. The position requires engineers to develop scalable data pipelines which operate in near-real-time and batched processing while creating data products and establishing AI-powered automation for intelligent transportation systems which operate autonomously and enhance performance throughout the world.

Main Duties

  • Create streaming and batch data pipelines which can operate at near-real-time capacity to support worldwide transportation operations. 
  • Create and manage complete data products which include all aspects from data ingestion to data processing and data storage and backfill operations and operational support activities. 
  • Work with operations staff and analytics staff to create dependable datasets which include effective tools and useful insights. 
  • Maintain data quality and pipeline functionality through the process of monitoring and optimizing their systems while following established best practices. 
  • Support the development of analytics standards through its contributions to AI-based automation projects and the creation of scalable cloud computing infrastructure.

Essential Qualifications:

  • More than three years of experience in data engineering.
  • Practical skills in data modeling, data warehousing and the development of ETL pipelines.
  • Individuals demonstrate advanced expertise in SQL.
  • Proficiency in using Python or Java or Scala or NodeJS programming languages.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining distributed systems which support extensive data extraction and ingestion and processing activities.
  • Practical experience with core big data technologies which include Hadoop and Hive and Spark and EMR.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS services including Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Have experience in working with non-relational databases which include object storage document stores key-value stores and graph databases. 
  • Knowledge about batch and streaming architectures which include Kafka Kinesis Flink Storm and Beam. 
  • Understands current data infrastructure systems which support cloud-native operations and scalable data analysis.
