Job Description

IBM is looking to hire a Software Engineer who will join its Cloud Data Services team to create, build, and manage software-as-a-service data solutions that run on IBM Cloud. The position requires developers to create microservices that can expand to handle increased demand while they work on creating automated deployment systems and protecting cloud-based applications from downtime. Engineers will work together with other teams to improve system performance and reliability and security while they manage production systems in a high-speed cloud environment.

Main Duties

• Design and develop scalable microservices deployed on Kubernetes clusters using production-ready coding practices.
• Automate deployment pipelines and continuously improve development and operational workflows in CI/CD environments.
• Ensure container images and services comply with organizational security and compliance standards.
• Configure observability tools including logging, monitoring, and tracing to maintain system health and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in on-call rotations to support production systems and resolve incidents.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Computer Science or related field constitutes the minimum requirement for this position. 
• Extensive programming skills in Golang and must understand cloud-native technological systems.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes Docker Helm and various continuous integration and continuous delivery tools which include GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
• Develop and maintain distributed systems which provide high availability in active production systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills through his ability to create software that remains operational and easy to manage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrate expertise with two or more major cloud platforms which include AWS and Azure and GCP. 
• Database knowledge together with expertise in PostgreSQL, Kafka, MySQL, Redis and MongoDB technologies. 
• Demonstrate knowledge of infrastructure automation tools which include Terraform and Ansible. 
• Experience in creating unit tests through Golang development together with knowledge of testing standards. 
• Work together with others in environments which use DevOps practices.
